These emergency drains are not to be confused with the drains in table 7 3 of the los angeles plumbing code 2014 edition. This is best implemented if a fixture rests close to the stack and the top floor of your home allowing the stack to serve as a vent. Emergency drains are floor drains within a building and serve only the area used for parking of motor vehicles. They are intended solely to receive water from automobile drippage fused sprinkler heads ruptured piping and other similar conditions.

If a floor drain is between 450mm and about 12 and tie directly into the sbd which has to terminate at it s upstream end in a minimum 3 stack to open air it need not be vented. If the drain line runs away from the wall where you want the vent use a reducing y and a 45 degree street elbow to point the vent line toward the wall. If the problem just started it s probably a blocked drain or plumbing vent pipe that needs to be snaked out. The venting requirements for a floor drain that meets specific criteria like those mentioned above. If the toilet drain does not connect directly to a vent you must find another way to vent it.

The drain in the toilet bowl is basically a p trap. The true vent is aligned vertically and attaches to your drain line through the roof. Through the stack sewer gases are carried up to the roof through vent lines. The horizontal vent pipe runs right next to the closet bend.
